A Simple Guide to Buying a Walkera Helicopter
The Walkera helicopter is a popular choice among flying enthusiasts and there are many models to choose from. Their popularity is probably down to the fact that they are relatively inexpensive to purchase for those who are getting into the hobby of flying, and spare parts, if needed can be found online easily. However when considering buying a helicopter you have to ensure that you choose the right model for your circumstances.
If you are a complete beginner to flying then it would be in your best interests to join a flying club, one that specializes in helicopter flying would be the ideal choice and there are many around. By joining a club you will be able to get advice and information on the Walkera helicopter in general and which of the models is the best to start off with. There will be many members who have been flying for years and their knowledge will put you in good stead and ensure your introduction into flying gets off to the best of starts.
If you are a newcomer and have very little experience in flying a helicopter then one Walkera model which you could consider starting out with is the Walkera Dragonfly 5. This is an excellent choice for beginners and is one of the X rotation XRB types of helicopter. Another good choice would be the Dragonfly 53 as both of the models from Walkera, as many do, come ready assembled. They are a good beginners choice due to their design, both have counter rotating blades which means they are without tail blades and this makes them one of the easier types of helicopter to fly and adds to stability when flying. One word of warning though both models are best flown in calm weather, strong winds and the Dragonfly does not mix.
Once you have got used to flying the helicopter and have proved yourself a good pilot then you can consider buying a helicopter such as the Walkera 36 or Walkera 60, both of which are more powerful. As with all the Walkera range of helicopters the 36 and 60 are excellent value for money and both come pre-set, however you will have to make some adjustment to the gyro, based on your handling of the helicopter. Both of the helicopters can be upgraded if you choose to do so, this includes upgrading to full metal rotor heads along with the tail rotor, this allows for a more stable and precise flying experience.
The Walkera ranges are very popular choices among both the novice and the experienced helicopter enthusiast. They offer models suitable for all needs from the 5G4 which is only 14 inches and is suitable for beginners who fly on calm days or this model can be used indoors providing there is adequate room, and is one of the easiest helicopters to fly straight out of the box. At the other scale is the nitro based Walkera 83 deluxe, as the name suggests this is aimed at the more experienced flyer but again is to ready to fly straight out of the box.
Walkera helicopters are a very popular choice among beginners and advanced pilots alike. From the Walkera Dragonfly 5 with its counter rotating blades to the more powerful nitro based Walkera 83 deluxe all helicopters can be flown straight out of the box. Whether you want to practice hovering or perform powerful extreme maneuvers, Walkera have something to offer.
